Emile Heskey played as a striker throughout his career. An intelligent and hard working player, he was gifted with pace, physical strength, and an ability to utilise his height to win aerial challenges. His main contributions to the team lay in the way he held the ball up with his back to goal and drew defenders out, leaving space behind him for another player to score. He was unselfish and happy to assist his fellow strikers to score the goals for the sake of the team - the ultimate Team Man. Emile’s mantra was clear - whatever the odds, you can win as a team if you have the right attitude and using everyone’s strengths, work towards a common vision.
