Mandy Hickson

Fighter Pilot, Leadership, Diversity

Tony Latimer.jpeg

Mandy Hickson is a pioneer in the truest sense of the term. The British RAF had never had women as fighter pilots before she came along wanting to be one. She passed all flying tests with distinction and failed the Aptitude Test both times she was allowed to take it. That first year 70% of women failed the test and 80% of men passed it. She fought the system until they revised the test to remove the cognitive bias in favour of men. She then became an Officer and a Tornado G4 pilot and flew in Iraq. After 30-years in Aviation, Mandy is now a much sought after Inspirational Speaker and Trainer, addressing issues of Diversity, Equity, Optimal Decision Making, Situational Awareness, Transparent Leadership & Empowerment of Teams.
