Sumit Antil is an Indian Paralympian and javelin thrower who won a gold medal in the men's javelin throw F64 category at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. In 2024, at the Paris Paralympics, he became one of the few athletes in the world to defend his title and win a second Gold Medal.

Sumit’s childhood dream was to pursue a career in wrestling and join the Indian Army but after a road accident at the age of 17, his left leg was amputated and he had to abandon his dream of becoming a wrestler. On his journey to physical rehabilitation, Sumit picked up the javelin in 2017 and competed in various National and International platforms. He began competing at javelin on the National circuit and GoSports inducted him into the Para Champions Programme in 2019. Also iIn 2019, at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Italy, he broke the world record in the F64 category and won a Silver medal. He then won the Silver medal at World Para Athletics Championships, in Dubai in 2019 breaking his own world record in the F64 category.

In 2021, Sumit won a gold medal with a World Record throw of 68.55m in the javelin  F64 at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. He broke his own world record subsequently with a throw of 73.29.

Sumit continues to aim higher in his quest for continuous improvement and dreams of some day throwing the javelin at par with able bodied Olympians despite the significant physical challenge which has forced him to find new ways of throwing further than any paralympian has ever thrown.
